bigups to RED CROSS. everyone needs to go

i spent about 2 hours waiting at the nashville red cross. i was given a do (distribution order) for 130$ for clothes and i could spend it at a wal mart or target

and everything i bought was tax free

basicly theyll give you 130$/ person in your household for clothes and 50$/ person / house hold for food

I'm managing shifts at the shelter in Monroe starting Monday. I suggest if anyone is able-bodied, that you go volunteer. Thousands of people are worse off than me right now. They need help.

At least at the one here, you just show up, that's what I did. You'll have some forms to fill out, if they can use you, they'll put you right to work, if not, you'll be put on a schedule.

i went yesterday. we went through orientation and shelter operations. they put us all on a list and said they were set for now and would call us when they need us. in the coming days/weeks people will lose interest and thats when they'll really need us.

you can at least go there and go through orientation. its every 30 minutes.

they said after that you can go to shelters to offer help and they'll probably take you.

if you have specialized skill they could use you though...doctor/nurse/etc.

casey, 130$/ person for clothes and 50$/person for food

regardless of where youre at or where youre from (as long as its in the affected area)

google red cross to find the location in your area and if you're skeptical call ahead.. i guarantee you wont be disappointed.

also they can direct you to a dr for your perscription needs

if you are out of town, they will also give you up to $500 for a "relocation" to your next destinaiton ex. plane tickets/gas and food money..and i think the first months rent

they also have a landlord slip for apartments where they will pay for your first month's rent as well as electricity, water, gas
this also includes the deposit (the man said that the landlords usually waive the fee)

they gave me a months bus pass
and are hooking me up with a bike in a couple of days

aslo, with the $130 for clothes, they'll give you a $25 certificate to Good Will

they are amazing...but i did have to wait there from 10:30am to 7:00pm
